Video Conferencing: The Good and The Bad

The new technologies of video conferencing can be frustrating, we know. Figuring out how to communicate through it is a challenge itself, then comes all the bells and whistles it offers. Don’t worry though, we all are struggling with the new adjustments. Even professionals have troubles with telecommunicating. Check out this video of a cat, I mean a lawyer, trying to video call.

As you saw, everyone has issues with this technology. Especially with those filters that can somehow transform you into a cat! But we want to help you in the transition to make video conferencing as easy as possible.

The best way to avoid one of these viral moments is to make sure you log in ahead of time, make sure your mic and video are working and adjust any settings that need addressed. When you can sit with a light in front of you. Avoid lights and windows directly behind you. Also if you will need to show the doctor inside your mouth make sure to have either a flashlight available or a family member that can help take a picture or video for you.

Green Leaf Dental Care has been offering Teledentistry appointments, which is our way of evaluating you in the comfort of your own home behind a computer, so that way you don’t have to offer convenient services, prevent unnecessary trips to the office, and keep you safe during the pandemic. Dr. Suter is the founder of Access Teledentistry, which is a consulting firm that provides teledentistry solutions through a variety of services. He has taken his experience with Access Teledentistry and educated all of Green Leaf Dental Care staff on how to properly use video technology to examine patients and to help them when they are having g technological issues. We are now very familiar with the video calling process with our new appointment option and want the same for you. The struggle is real with this, but we hope this video can explain it well enough for you to feel comfortable using the software.

You can also view this graphic from Barton College in the UK on video conferencing etiquette.

We hope these tips give you an insight on what you need to do in order to have a successful video conference. If you have further questions, call our office at 636-671-0102 and we will gladly help you with anything you may need.

Thank you,

Green Leaf Dental Care
